John Abraham Urges Nepal To Cancel Chitwan Elephant Festival For Ethical Tourism

John Abraham, Bollywood actor and animal rights advocate, advised the Nepali government to choose more ethical wildlife tourism over the controversial Chitwan Elephant Festival. In his letter to Nepal’s Ministry of Culture, he emphasizes the importance of compassionate tourism practices for the protection of animal welfare and strengthening Nepal’s leadership in ecotourism.

John conveyed his gratitude for Nepal, pointing out that the country boasts beautiful views, a rich culture, and a warm people. “I have a special place in my heart for Nepal, I am inspired by its beauty and hospitality, and it is because of this adoration that I feel obliged to reach out,” he said describing his relationship with the nation.

These events include the Chitwan Elephant Festival, to which the actor referred, featuring events such as elephant football and beauty pageants. He maintained that, because elephants frequently have demanding training regimens and experience hostile conditions during sports like those, they endure massive psychological and physical stress. “Elephants are intelligent, sensitive creatures. Being forced to endure such things causes them a great deal of anguish and suffering,” he stated. John pushed for the preservation of Nepal’s wildlife. Elephants, according to him, are symbols of grace, power, and intelligence. He argued that Nepal may lead by example in responsible wildlife tourism by replacing the type of events like elephant sports with sustainable events that respect the dignity of animals.

He wrote, “Nepal is uniquely poised to inspire global travellers with tourism that is compassion-oriented and sustainable. By transforming customs to reflect the importance of kindness and respect for all living things, Nepal might establish a global standard.”

John concluded by pleading with the authorities to call off the celebration and promising his assistance in demonstrating Nepal’s dedication to ethical travel. He concluded by saying, “I am sure that decisions that respect Nepal’s people, wildlife, and natural beauty will shape its bright future.”
