Aviation blogger Sam Chui recently made his wedding a flying high affair by getting married on a Boeing 747 thousands of feet in the air. Famous for his popular aviation blog, Chui decided to have what he referred to as a ‘sky wedding’, redefining the phrase ‘love is in the air’.

Chui and his bride-to-be Fiona, a flight attendant, took off from Fujairah International Airport (FJR) in the UAE aboard a chartered Boeing 747-400 on July 12, 2025.

The plane that used to fly with Singapore Airlines (SQ) took off at 6:30 PM for a 95-minute trip over the Gulf of Oman before landing back by 8 PM, taking the couple and their wedding party on a memorable ride.

There was an Instagram video recording the couple, both of whom were dressed in white attire, strolling hand-in-hand down a red carpet to their special venue. Smiling and waving at photographers, the couple boarded the jumbo plane to party in the air as representatives of love. ‘Love is in the Air. Welcome to our 747 Sky Wedding flight. Memories of a lifetime for both of us’, captioned Chui.

The act was welcomed with positive responses from Chui’s almost one million fans. “What a dream! Congratulations, I wish you lots of flights together,” said one of the fans. Another said, “Wow, when real aviation nerds fall in love, love is really in the air. Congratulations Mr & Mrs Chui. Wishing you a happily ever after.”

One of the passengers at the airborne wedding also expressed their happiness, stating, “It was a great and beautiful wedding day on the plane. Congratulations to both of you. I wish you and your wife will be healthy, joyful, and harmonious always until old age and death together.”
