Influencer Honors Late Father by Smoking His Ashes: ‘My Dad Was a Badass’

American YouTuber Rosanna Pansino paid tribute to her late father in the debut episode of her new podcast by fulfilling his unusual last wish. In the episode titled ‘Smoking My Dead Dad’, Pansino revealed that her father, who passed away after a battle with leukemia, requested that his ashes be mixed with soil, used to grow a marijuana plant, and then smoked.

“My dad was a badass and quite a little rebel, and I will be following in his footsteps, like father, like daughter, so to start this episode I want to tell you guys about my dad’s dying wish,” Pansino shared with her audience.

The 39-year-old influencer explained that her dad had requested the gesture before his passing, and although her mother was initially reluctant due to concerns over how others might perceive it, time has helped them come to terms with it. “Before he passed, he told me and my mum what he would like us to do with his ashes,” Pansino said. “My mum was hesitant at first, fearing people would judge us because of how ‘hippie’ it was.”

Pansino decided to honor her father’s wish five years later, reaching out to a licensed marijuana grower in California to harvest the plant with the help of her friends and family. “But as time has gone on and it’s been five years now, we just really think that it’s the right time to do what dad wanted and to honour him the way he wanted.”
