Indian Steel Man Vispy Kharadi Sets New World Record with Incredible Strength

Nicknamed the "Steel Man of India," Vispy set the record for the heaviest weightlifting Hercules Pillars (male) when he lifted a gargantuan 261 kilograms (575.4 pounds) a load about the size of a full-grown polar bear.

With a jaw-dropping demonstration of raw power and strength, Indian martial artist and fitness guru Vispy Kharadi has again become a Guinness World Records title holder. Nicknamed the “Steel Man of India,” Vispy set the record for the heaviest weightlifting Hercules Pillars (male) when he lifted a gargantuan 261 kilograms (575.4 pounds) a load about the size of a full-grown polar bear.

Weightlifting Competition at Attari Border, Punjab 

The weightlifting record was set on August 17 at the Attari border in Punjab, India, in front of thousands of screaming fans. Vispy had to keep the weight up for one minute, but he strained for a further seven seconds, securing the win. The challenge proved so tough that it needed multiple men to assist in placing the huge pillars prior to Vispy continuing and using chains to support them while standing on a platform.

17th Guinness World Records Title Won by Vispy

This latest win is the 17th Guinness World Records title won by Vispy. He credited his mentors, Shihan and Hanshi, with having given him their “constant support” in guiding him towards this latest achievement.

A Champion of Strength and Endurance

Vispy Kharadi isn’t new to Herculean feats of strength and stamina. This victory isn’t even his first victory over the Hercules Pillars challenge. Last November, he took the record for holding Hercules pillars (male) for the longest amount of time, having done so for 2 minutes and 10.75 seconds. His extensive collection of standing records speaks volumes about his dominion over various astounding strength challenges: His longest-standing record is for most iron bars bent with the neck in one minute.

Vispy Breaks 3 Records in Milan, Italy

Vispy also enjoyed a highly successful visit to Milan, Italy, in February 2023, where he smashed three records on the set of the TV show Lo Show dei Record. This was the phenomenal heaviest concrete block break on a bed of nails (male), during which he endured 964.80 kg (2,127.01 lb) of force. His achievements also include collaboration, as in the numerous times he held the record for most individuals on a one-inch bed of nails sandwich, demonstrating his capacity to endure great pressure for team stunts.
