Historic 108-Meter Chunri Presented to Janaki Temple During Bibah Panchami Festivities

A 108-meter long Chunri was offered to the Janaki Temple in Janakpur, Nepal, on the occasion of ‘Bibah Panchami.’ This event marks the wedding of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. The Chunri was sent by Jin Mata Trust from Surat, Gujarat, and it toured the historic city of Janakpur before being presented to the temple.

A First for Janakpur

This is the first time a Chunri of this size has been brought to Janakpur. “The people of Janakpur are overjoyed, and their support has been overwhelming,” said Manoj Rungata, Chairman of Sitaram Gaushala. He also mentioned that people actively took part in the Shobha Yatra, showing their excitement for this new tradition.

Janakpur Celebrates Bibah Panchami

Janakpur, the birthplace of Goddess Sita, is full of celebrations ahead of ‘Bibah Panchami’ on Friday. This year’s event is special, as it’s the first after the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Bibah Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of the Margashirsha month to honor the divine marriage of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita.

476th Chunri Presented to Mata Janaki

This Chunri is the 476th offering made by Jin Mata Trust. Nirmal Chaudhary, Chairman of Marwadi Sewa Samiti, said that the Chunri toured the city before being offered to Mata Janaki. Jin Mata Trust has now presented Chunris to over 475 Bhagwati temples.

Devotees Arrive for the Wedding

The Barat of Lord Ram arrived in Janakpur with great enthusiasm. Around 500 devotees from Ayodhya, along with others from across India, joined the celebration. Forty Vedic Brahmins from Tirupati will perform the marriage rituals of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita in Janakpur. According to scriptures, the marriage of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita took place in Janakpur during the Treta Yuga.
