A viral video captures a man catching a leopard by its tail that may save some lives. According to reports, Anand was seen holding the leopard by its tail until the forest officials reached there and safely trapped the animal. The drama occurred in a village in Karnataka’s Tumakuru district.

The leopard had gone amok, roaming freely in the village for many days. He had panicked everybody in the place. Despite the attempts made several times, it always managed to dodge the villagers as well as avoid the traps. Taking the thing into his hands, Anand made a heroic move, so bold that surprised the animal from all sides.

In the viral video, forest officials and villagers can be seen trying to catch the leopard. Anand quickly moves behind the animal and grabs its tail, giving the police time to cover it with a net and secure it using tree stems and ropes. The leopard was later released into a nearby forest on Tuesday.

The menace of leopard attack incidents has already been a growing concern in Karnataka, especially one such incident recently in Bengaluru last November where 52-year-old Kariamma was mauled to death by a leopard that dragged her to the forest while she was cutting grass near her home and there, the leopard killed her and had eaten parts of her body.

After the attack, the Forest Department stepped up their surveillance and catching efforts of leopards in that region. Heavy cages and eight pairs of camera traps were set up, which led to catching two leopards—a seven-year-old male and a nine-year-old female—within just a few days of the attack.

The video of Anand’s quick thinking and bravery starkly contrasts the challenges of human-wildlife conflict in that region.
