A Haryana-based vlogger, Rakshit Beniwal, has stirred a social media controversy with a video in which he was sitting on the roof of a moving car claiming that his policeman father would “protect him.” This video, criticized for promoting reckless behavior, has heated up the online debates.

Vlogger’s Stunt Draws Fire

Rakshit, who has 41,000 followers on Instagram and 70,000 subscribers on YouTube, is seen in the video sitting atop a Mahindra Thar moving through a busy road. Later in the video, the camera cuts to his father, dressed in a police uniform, sitting inside the vehicle. The video is captioned in Hindi: “Tu maar mai dekh lunga, ye kehne vaale papa hai mere” (You hit, I’ll handle, I have a father who says this).

Initially shared on Instagram, the video quickly gained traction, surpassing four million views within a week. Rakshit’s account features similar daring stunts, with one pinned video garnering over 35 million views in a month.

Social Media Debate

The video spread across platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), where Pune-based entrepreneur Chirag Barjatya reposted it, writing: “What’s happening in Haryana? A kid is sitting on a Thar (obviously) and saying his dad who is a policeman will save him? Save him from what? High time, Mahindra should start seizing such people and cars.”

Barjatya’s post sparked a wave of criticism, as users criticized the dangerous act. This is so dangerous, not just for the kid but for everybody on the road,” the comment reads. “It is irresponsible and gives a bad message, knowing the father is a policeman.”

Some of them threatened to attack Mahindra, the car maker, saying the company needs to take action against this act. One commenter said: “Mahindra needs to take action against such acts. So, it does not repeat anytime in future.”
The video now begets a lot of discussions over matters of safety, responsibility, and the role of influencers in spreading responsible behavior.
