In an unexpected twist, a wedding in Delhi was called off after the groom’s dance performance to the popular Bollywood song “Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai” angered the bride’s father, who deemed it inappropriate for the occasion. The groom, urged by his friends, had been dancing to entertain the guests, unaware that his actions would provoke a strong reaction from the bride’s family.
The Dance That Led to the Wedding’s End
The wedding ceremony, which was in full swing, took a surprising turn when the groom, encouraged by his friends, took to the floor to perform to the Bollywood classic “Choli Ke Peeche.” While some guests enjoyed the spectacle and cheered him on, the bride’s father was not impressed. He considered the groom’s actions disrespectful and out of line with the values he held dear.
Bride’s Father Cancels the Wedding in Anger
Furious over what he perceived as an inappropriate display, the bride’s father stormed into the scene and halted the wedding. He announced the cancellation, stating that the groom’s behaviour had insulted his family’s traditions and values. Despite the groom’s attempts to explain that it was just a fun, harmless moment, the bride’s father remained adamant. He further banned any further contact between the two families, leaving both the bride and groom in shock.
Social Media Reacts to the Sudden Turn of Events
The incident quickly spread across social media, where people expressed their astonishment at how a dance performance could lead to such a drastic action. A post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) shared a newspaper clipping stating: “Groom dances on ‘Choli Ke Peeche’ to entertain guests. Bride’s father cancels the wedding.”
Similar Incidents Raise Concerns About Wedding Etiquette
This isn’t the first instance of a wedding being abruptly called off in India. In December of the previous year, a wedding in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli also ended unexpectedly when the groom left the venue after becoming angry over a delay in serving food. The groom later went on to marry his cousin the same day, and the bride’s family filed a police complaint for losses amounting to Rs 7 lakh, due to the arrangements already in place.
The Delhi wedding incident continues to spark discussions on wedding etiquette and expectations, with many wondering whether family traditions and values should take precedence over fun and entertainment at such a significant event.
