Grieving Father Honors Late Son’s Dream to Become a Model by Walking the Ramp: ‘With a Heavy Heart…’

A touching story of a father’s emotional journey to honor his late son has moved many. Naveenn Kaamboj, who tragically lost his 18-year-old son in a road accident during Holi, decided to become a model to fulfill his son’s dream.

Dinesh Mohan, a 55-year-old who overcame his own battles with depression and began his modeling career later in life, provided Kaamboj with the platform to walk the ramp. Mohan posted a video of the emotional moment, saying, “It is a tale of loss and sorrow and exemplary courage. Bravo Naveenn Kaamboj. He lost his very handsome 18-year-old son last year in an unfortunate road accident on the day of Holi,” he added that Kaamboj approached him with the desire to model in the memory of his son. “Through sheer willpower, pulled himself (Kaamboj) out of depression and underwent weight loss of many kgs,” Mohan continued. He concluded his post with, “grief is deep but love is deeper.”

Social media users poured their feelings into their messages as one said, “Sorry to hear this.” Then another wrote, “O my God. Hats off to this courageous man.” A third one added, “Dil pe pathar rakh ke itna confidence se ramp wark krneke liya dil se salut.” Fourthly, she shared: Loads of love and thousands of hugs to this man.

On Instagram, Kaamboj shared his experience of losing his son and pursuing his modeling dream. He reflected on their shared ambitions and the devastating loss he experienced when his son passed away “at the tender age of 18 in a tragic and unforeseen incident.”

“Unbearable grief”

“When Karan left us, it seemed impossible to give life to those dreams. For a year, I spent my days in the shadow of unbearable grief, trying to make sense of the void he had left behind. But on his first death anniversary, I made myself a promise: to honor his memory by giving shape to his dreams, in my own way,” Kaamboj wrote.

Kaamboj also talked about his weight of 100 kg when he started his modeling career. With the support of his wife, daughter, and youngest son, he overcame his struggles to fulfill his son’s wish. He thanked everyone who supported him on this journey.
