A terrifying road accident in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, was completely captured on CCTV camera, showing a clear case of the inability to stop in time by the driver, leading to a serious collision.

The footage, now going viral, shows a Bolero Neo SUV violently slamming into the back of a slow-moving Tata Ace mini-truck, underlining an important reason for danger on Indian roads.

Gorakhpur Road Accident: Viral Video

The incident happened when the Bolero Neo, which was at a considerably high speed, neared a very heavily loaded Tata Ace.

The Tata Ace, normally engaged in carrying goods in urban and rural areas, was crawling along the road due to an enormous load packed high up its back.

The reason is clearly revealed in the CCTV footage of the Bolero Neo driving straight into the back of the mini-truck without any indications of trying to brake or swerve before impact.

The force of the collision was severe enough to have badly damaged both vehicles. According to eyewitness accounts and police sources, the SUV driver was likely dozing off at the wheel, sleeping, or heavily distracted in the moments leading up to the collision. If he were alert, he would have had enough time to react and avoid the slower vehicle up front.

Dangers of Overloading and Distraction

This accident highlights two severe safety issues on the road.

Driver Alertness: The seeming lack of response by the Bolero Neo driver flags the danger of driving either in a state of fatigue or using a mobile phone. Driver distraction is one of the leading causes of rear-end collisions, as it severely cuts down the precious seconds needed for a safe response.

Vehicle Overloading: While the Tata Ace was the victim in this accident, the image of the highly overloaded mini-truck is also a major safety concern. Overloaded vehicles are difficult to control, slow down suddenly, and are harder to see, especially at night or in areas with poor lighting.

Local police first attended the scene, overseeing the situation and starting their investigation into the collision. Any injuries to drivers or passengers are being evaluated.

Authorities will refer to the clear CCTV evidence to determine the precise sequence of events and any appropriate legal action. This video is a grim reminder for every driver that staying alert and focused on the road can help avoid such easily preventable, yet fatal, accidents.
