The popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, along with comedian Samay Raina and other members of the India’s Got Latent team, are facing police charges after an insensitive joke made on the show sparked massive public outrage. The controversy began when Allahbadia made a remark about parental sex, which many found offensive, leading to severe backlash. This resulted in the registration of an FIR against him, Raina, and others associated with the show.
Ranveer Allahbadia’s Quick Apology Sparks Jokes
In the wake of the controversy, Allahbadia quickly issued an apology just two hours after the incident, a response that comedian Gaurav Kapoor couldn’t resist poking fun at during a recent stand-up comedy set. Kapoor joked about the speed of Allahbadia’s public apology, saying, “Arre bhai kya bhasad hogayi yaar. Itni badi bhasad toh hai bhi nahi yaar. Ho gaya yaar, nikal gaya mooh se yaar” (It became such a big mess when it wasn’t even that big. It’s fine, they messed up). He mocked Allahbadia’s swift apology, saying, “Mujhe gire pe laat marna accha nahi lagta par ek baar maar dete hain. Waise Ranveer jo bhai hain, 12 baje controversy hui, 2 baje apology dedi. 2 ghante mein? Itni jaldi toh main apne papa ko sorry nhi bolta” (I don’t like to kick someone who has tripped, but let’s do this once. The controversy came up at 12 and Ranveer bhai apologised at 2. In just 2 hours? I don’t even apologise to my dad so quickly).

Kapoor’s Additional Jokes on Legal Counsel
Gaurav Kapoor continued to joke about the situation, advising Allahbadia to consult a lawyer before issuing any statement. He quipped, “Abe rukja bhootni ke, lawyer ko dede thoda paisa. Baat karle lawyer se, samajh le kya bolna hai” (Wait a minute! Pay a lawyer and consult them first). Kapoor further took a jab at the situation, suggesting that if Allahbadia had been born before 1947, he would have “joined the British” after receiving a slap. “One hit with a stick, and he’d be like, ‘Brother Simon, sorry! Brother Simon, I’m coming with you,’” Kapoor added, highlighting the quickness of the apology.
Ranveer Allahbadia’s Public Apology and Samay Raina’s Struggles
Ranveer Allahbadia later issued a public apology, admitting that “comedy wasn’t his forte.” Meanwhile, comedian Samay Raina, who was also involved in the controversial episode, shared that the situation became too overwhelming for him to handle. In response to the backlash, Raina deleted all India’s Got Latent videos from his YouTube channel.
Police Statements Still Pending
As the controversy continues to unfold, other judges, including influencer Apoorva Mukhija, have recorded their statements. However, both Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina have yet to submit their statements to the Mumbai police, further intensifying the situation.
This ongoing controversy highlights the delicate balance between humor and public responsibility, especially in an era where the power of words can quickly lead to unforeseen consequences.
