Having spent over 14 years in the banking industry and then rising to the rank of vice president at Credit Suisse, Sagar Malhotra, of Indian origin, desired to do something new. Although he had a job that most would want, his heart craved the real chhole kulche he had grown up eating as a child in Delhi. He considered an innovative idea that is a vending machine that would serve the North Indian street food symbol with sanitation, quickness, and regularity.

India's First Ever Chole Kulche Vending Machine

In 2024, Sagar took a giant leap. Being a food lover, he quit his bank job and devoted himself to creating India's first-ever chhole kulche vending machine. The journey was not easy. Without any technical training, he had to learn electronics, motors, and food-grade engineering from scratch.

By November 2024, after months of trial and error and experimentation, he developed a prototype that took just 60 seconds to serve a fresh plate of chhole kulche. The customers even had the option of spice levels not so spicy, medium, or hot so it would be individualized but the same, along with freshly boiled chickpeas, onions, chutney, and toasted kulchas, a flavor of Delhi street.
