Flat Earth believer Jeran Campanella
In a stunning turn of events, one of the most prominent flat earthers, Jeran Campanella, reportedly had a change of heart on the Earth’s actual shape after visiting Antarctica with an expense of $35,000 (approximately Rs 29 Lakh). It was part of The Final Experiment led by Pastor Will Duffy, which included globe earth and flat earth believers to finally put an end to the age-old debate.
In his travel report, Campanella indicated that he had seen 24-hour sun; a contradictory phenomenon to flat earth. He described his experience when he said, “Sometimes you are wrong in life. I thought there was no 24-hour sun. In fact, I was pretty sure of it.” He acknowledged the mistake through Duffy who proved him wrong, adding, “It’s a fact the sun does circle you in the south. don’t listen to my beliefs or my opinion, it shouldn’t matter to you.”

Campanella thanked Duffy for organizing the trip, saying it was “the most incredible experience” of his life. He even said that he saw how the sun seemed to be in motion constantly and proposed that the moon was probably in a similar circular orbit around the region.
For years, flat earthers had claimed that the Antarctic Treaty of 1959 barred civilians from visiting the continent to conceal Earth’s true shape. However, Campanella’s trip disproved these ideas, showing that access, while regulated, is possible.
Another flat earth proponent, Austin Whitsitt, said that “We never claimed it was impossible to visit the region but meant you can’t freely and privately explore it.” He did recognize the extreme and incredible nature of the environment around Antarctica that requires strict safety measures. Whitsitt concluded with noting the purpose of the trip was to see the 24-hour sun and no longer had an intention to get into heavy discussions over its implications.
This is the long journey that has changed the narrative, and the early pro-flat-earthers are now contemplating their past ideas about Earth’s shape.
