Objecting to his daughter wanting to marry someone from a different caste, a 46-year-old man allegedly slit her throat and dumped her body on a farm in Rohini’s Kanjhawala Sunday. The accused, Nand Kishor, has been arrested, officers said Monday.
DCP (Rohini) Guriqbal Singh Sidhu said at 8.53 pm on Sunday, they received a PCR call at Kanjhawla police station regarding the murder of a woman in an agricultural field near Prem Piau in Chandpur village.
Police reached the spot and found the body. The woman, around the age of 20, had deep injuries on her neck and abdomen. “She was shifted to SGM Hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival… a case of murder was lodged and a police team formed to arrest the accused. After analysing CCTV footage in the vicinity, the teams found that a taxi had dropped the victim and the accused near the crime scene; they traced the vehicle’s registration number,” said the officer.
Police then traced and arrested the accused. Kishor lives in a rented accommodation in Prem Nagar and does a glass-fitting job.
The DCP said the accused claimed his daughter wanted to marry a man of her choice who was from a different caste. Police said the woman had been in a relationship with the man, a resident of her village in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, for the past two years.Officers said Sunday, the accused went to his son’s house in Narela; the victim had been staying with her brother and his wife for the past two months. There, the accused booked a private taxi to Prem Nagar. He was planning to kill her there, claimed police.
“On their way… father-daughter argued in the car… Kishor then asked the driver to stop at Kanjhawla… They got out and he slit his daughter’s throat with a cutter and stabbed her multiple times in the chest in a field in Chandpur village… he dumped her body there before fleeing,” said an officer. Police said the driver is being questioned about what transpired inside the taxi.“The accused told us that during the car ride, he asked his daughter to not be in a relationship with the man as he was from a different caste… the incident did not take place in the heat of the moment and was pre-planned,” said an officer, requesting anonymity. Police said the deceased’s brother is also being questioned to ascertain if he knew about the incident.
