In a chilling case from Haryana’s Rohtak district, a man has been arrested for allegedly burying his tenant alive in a seven-foot-deep pit after suspecting him of having an affair with his wife. The shocking crime, which occurred in December last year, remained undiscovered for months until an extensive police investigation led to the recovery of the victim’s body and the arrest of the accused.

Murder Over Affair Allegation

The accused, Hardeep, believed that his tenant, Jagdeep—a yoga instructor at Baba Mastnath University in Rohtak—was involved in a relationship with his wife. Instead of confronting him, Hardeep devised a sinister plan.

He hired workers under the guise of digging a borewell in Charkhi Dadri’s Pantavas village but had actually prepared the pit as a death trap. On December 24, Jagdeep was abducted upon returning home. His hands and feet were tied, and he was beaten before being transported to the prepared site. The accused taped his mouth shut, threw him into the pit, and buried him alive under layers of soil.

Police Crack the Case After Months

The crime came to light only after Jagdeep’s uncle, Ishwar, reported him missing on February 3. Despite multiple searches, no leads emerged until police expanded their investigation. CCTV footage from Jagdeep’s neighborhood revealed four men abducting him, leading authorities to analyse mobile data from Janata Colony and nearby areas.

Eventually, police gathered substantial evidence and arrested Hardeep and his associate, Dharampal. Under intense interrogation, the duo confessed, revealing the horrifying details of the crime.

Excavation and Arrests

Following their confession, a police team accompanied by Jagdeep’s family excavated the site, struggling to retrieve the body from the tightly packed soil. After hours of digging, the remains were finally recovered, three months after the murder.

Currently, two suspects are in custody, while police continue their search for other accomplices. According to Crime Investigation Agency unit in-charge Kuldeep Singh, further arrests are imminent, and authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report for additional details.

The shocking case has left the local community in disbelief, highlighting the dark consequences of unchecked rage and suspicion.
