A senior citizen was allegedly not allowed entry into a Bengaluru mall for wearing a dhoti. The video of the elderly gentleman and his son pleading with security personnel of a GT Mall has gone viral and sparked outrage online.
The incident occurred when the security guards stopped the father-son duo at the entrance of the mall on Tuesday evening despite them carrying tickets for the movie.
Despite the father’s protests, explaining their long journey and not being able to change clothes, the mall supervisor purportedly upheld strict managerial orders.
Security insisted that the man change into pants if he wanted entry into the premises, the report added.
The viral video has generated criticism and debate on social media, with many condemning the security and the mall management for “disrespecting” the elderly man.
Another user of X wrote, “The Mall must correct the mistake and spread cheer with a one-year free movie pass to that old person.”.
“Those who have self respect should make sure to wear only a pance (dhoti) while going to this GT Mall. Panche is part of our Culture. Had we preserved it like Tamils/Malayalis then these scums wouldn’t have had courage to stop us in our own land from wearing our attire!,” one person reacted on X.
