‘Drunk’ Wedding Guest Beaten After Being Mistaken for Thief | WATCH

In Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria, a man, reportedly intoxicated, became disoriented and wandered off from a wedding procession, ultimately knocking on the door of a house. The wedding procession, which had started from Gorakhpur on Wednesday night, was nearing a local marriage hall in Tarkulwa village when the guest lost his way. His presence in the area led to suspicions, with locals mistakenly believing he was a thief.

When he knocked on a house’s door, people screamed in alarm, warning others of a potential thief. The confusion may have stemmed from a recent theft in the village. Villagers quickly apprehended him, and the man was beaten with kicks and punches before it was realized that he had been misidentified.

A video of the incident, shared by UttarPradesh.ORG News, shows the man being tied to an electric pole as the mob continued to beat him. Shockingly, bystanders filmed the scene but did nothing to clarify the man’s identity or intentions. The police were soon alerted, and the man, injured from the assault, was treated and returned to his family.

This is not the first time such an incident has occurred in Deoria. Earlier in September, a couple was similarly beaten and tied to a tree after being mistaken for thieves. The police condemned the assault and took action, detaining five individuals, including the former village leader, for their involvement.
