In a bizarre turn of events in Medak, Telangana, an alleged thief who broke into a local liquor store was incapacitated by alcohol, ending up being captured nearly 24 hours later.
Thief Breaks Into Liquor Store, Gets Drunk on Stolen Booze
During Sunday, 29th December, at night, an unknown man burgled ‘Kanakadurga Wines’ of Medak. He uprooted roof tiles in a very methodical process to gain entry into the shop, and he disabled the CCTV cameras also, to avoid leaving any trace, as he seemed to be planning an easy escape inside the shop. He grabbed bottles of liquor and cash and seemed to be ready to escape without any troubles. But, he could not escape the temptation.
Unable to resist the temptation of the stolen alcohol, the thief started drinking. Soon, one sip became another, and he lost all control over his drink. He became so intoxicated that he fell asleep on the shop floor, surrounded by the loot he had pilfered. What started as a quick robbery turned out to be an overnight binge.

Thief Found Passed Out by Shop Owner
The shop owner came to the shop on Monday morning to find the thief lying unconscious, snoring next to the stolen cash and liquor bottles. Shared online visuals show the man in a highly intoxicated state, sprawled on the floor with cash and alcohol bottles scattered around him.
Journalist KP Aashish hilariously covered the story, saying that the burglar “packed cash and bottles like a pro” but was caught by his own indulgence in the stolen alcohol, finally passing out.
Police Action and Arrest
The local police were alerted to the scene, and upon their arrival, they found the thief still unconscious. Police rushed the man to a nearby government hospital in an ambulance for treatment, awaiting his recovery to proceed with further investigation. Sub-inspector Ahmed Moinuddin confirmed that the thief had been taken into custody and a case had been registered against him.
Authorities are now investigating the bizarre robbery, where a thief’s craving for alcohol led to his downfall, turning what was meant to be a criminal act into a highly unusual situation.
A New Year’s Robbery Gone Wrong
This incident, therefore, appears quite strange as a lead-up to the NewYear’s celebrations. The case shows how sometimes even the best-planned crimes can go awry due to something that might seem so unrelated, and in this case, too much alcohol.
