Dalljiet Kaur Files FIR Against Estranged Husband Nikhil Patel, Accuses Him of ‘Cruelty’

Dalljiet Kaur has reportedly lodged an FIR against her estranged husband, Nikhil Patel. According to Times Now, the television actress filed the complaint on August 2 at Mumbai’s Agripada police station. The FIR was filed under sections 85 and 316 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, indicating accusations of cruelty and criminal breach of trust against Nikhil.

Interestingly, Nikhil Patel, who usually resides in Kenya, is currently in India. He was seen arriving in Mumbai on Friday with his rumored girlfriend.

This isn’t the first time Dalljiet has taken legal action against Nikhil. In June, she approached the Nairobi City court and obtained a stay order preventing Patel from evicting her and her son from their home in Kenya.

Previously, Nikhil sent a legal notice to Dalljiet, accusing her of harassment. According to ETimes, he claimed that her social media posts accusing him of an extra-marital affair were defamatory under the Indian Penal Code, The Information Technology Act of 2000 (India), and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act of 2012 (India).

Dalljiet Kaur and Nikhil Patel got married in March 2023, but they filed for divorce earlier this year, just ten months after their wedding. Nikhil confirmed their separation in May, explaining to E-Times, “In January this year, Dalljiet decided to leave Kenya with her son Jaydon and return to India, which ultimately led to our separation. We both realized that the foundation of our blended family wasn’t as strong as we had hoped, making it hard for Dalljiet to settle in Kenya. In March 2023, we held an Indian wedding ceremony in Mumbai. Though it held cultural significance, it was not legally binding. This ceremony was intended to reassure Dalljiet’s family about her move to Kenya.”

On Friday, Dalljiet posted their wedding pictures on Instagram in honor of Nikhil’s birthday. She accused him of causing her pain and wrote, “Right from sending my belongings to a storage house much before the date given by you through your PR articles to wiping the wall which I had painted for months with my chuda that I loved so much. And keeping a book in the foreground saying ‘subtle art of caring a FU**’ You have impressive ways to hurt me. And I know you are not done. You will come up with more ways soon.”
