Bollywood actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut is all geared up to live a long-time dream as she opens her new cafe, The Mountain Story, in Manali. The grand opening is on Valentine’s Day, which gives it an added romance amidst the Himachali backdrop.

While well-wishers and fans inundated social media with good wishes, a surprise welcome from the Kerala unit of Congress was the talking point. The party’s official account tweeted, “We are happy to learn about your new ‘pure vegetarian’ restaurant. Hope you’ll serve some amazing Himachali vegetarian dishes for all tourists. Wishing all success for this venture!”

The post caught everyone by surprise, as Kangana Ranaut is a BJP supporter and has been known to get into political altercations with Congress leaders from time to time. The response on social media was quick, with users wondering if the Congress handle had been hacked.

“I am 100% sure this account is being run by a high school student on a lunch break!” wrote one user.

Another added, “Is this account hacked?”

Even supporters of Congress mocked the post, questioning the party’s strategy. One user commented, “You guys keep tweeting such cheap posts and then wonder why you are losing elections? It takes a great deal of stupidity to completely ignore the ethos of this country.”

A Dream Fulfilled in the Himalayas

Ms. Ranaut had posted glimpses of The Mountain Story cafe weeks prior to the announcement. The video featured a quaint, rustic interior with wooden furniture, dimly lit chandeliers, and a Himachali look.

In her excitement, she posted, “A childhood dream comes alive. My little cafe in the lap of Himalayas.”

Ranaut, whose recent film Emergency saw her playing former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is still making headlines both in Bollywood and politics. She is a new BJP MP, but she still remains a vociferous critic of the Congress party and has been widening her business ventures as well.

Now that The Mountain Story has opened, tourists visiting Manali are able to taste Kangana Ranaut’s version of Himachali hospitality among stunning mountain vistas.
