Indian-American comedian Akaash Singh recently roasted a White man for saying his biggest “culture shock” in India was the presence of “stray dogs.” In a viral clip from his stand-up show, Singh, co-host of the *Flagrant* podcast, asks an audience member about his time in India. When the man shared that seeing stray dogs everywhere was surprising to him, Singh humorously called out the irony, pointing out how other, more intense experiences are part of everyday life in India.
Singh captioned the video “White man’s first time in India” and continued the bit by challenging the man’s response. “That’s what you noticed?” he asked, laughing. “That’s the whitest s**t you can possibly notice about India.” Singh humorously contrasted the man’s surprise about stray dogs with more dramatic scenes found on Indian streets, like people facing severe hardship. As the audience laughed, Singh added, “I knew you saw some kid with flies around them looking like they’re dead, and you’re like my God, we got to do something. There’s a dog next to this dead kid.”
To add more layers to the joke, Singh drew on familiar street encounters, saying, “You had a f**king trans woman knock on your window and demand money.” The man agreed, prompting Singh to joke further, “‘And you’re like, look at the dog behind this trans person trying to rob me… putting an actual f**king curse on me if I don’t give it to her.” The clip showcases Singh’s sharp wit as he turns the audience’s expectations upside down with his punchlines.
