British band Coldplay has taken the entire nation with a bang through its electrifying performances in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Chris Martin and the British band performed at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, January 26, setting an unparalleled record for holding the largest concert ever conducted in India. With a seating capacity of more than 1 lakh spectators, Coldplay now becomes the only band in India to have hosted such a record-breaking number of concertgoers.
Coldplay Heartfelt Thanks to Ahmedabad
The iconic band, expressing gratitude towards Ahmedabad, posted on the official social media handle. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), with a stunning photograph of their performance at the NaMo stadium, the band mentioned, “Our biggest ever concert. Totally mind-blowing. Thank you Ahmedabad ❤️ See you again tomorrow – and if you’re in India, please join us on Disney+ Hotstar from 7:45 PM.”.
Coldplay’s concert in Ahmedabad marks the final night of the band’s India tour, as they have scheduled their finale performance on January 26 at the same venue. Fans from other parts of India also got a chance to witness it, as the concert is allegedly streaming live on Disney+ Hotstar. The viewership rights, however, are exclusive to Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
Black Market Ticket Sales Exposed in Ahmedabad
In an unrelated incident, black marketing Coldplay concert tickets arrested an Ahmedabad pair accused of selling the tickets at an inflated rate. Vatsal Kothari (26), and Bisap Khalas (30), were the two men held for attempting to sell four concert tickets at varied prices. The two men had bought four tickets on the net for an amount of ₹12,500 each but were caught selling them at ₹ 20,000, according to a news release from the Ahmedabad city police.
The crime branch, acting on a tip-off, raided Bhaktinagar Road in Ahmedabad, where they apprehended Kothari and Khalas. Both of them confessed to their plans to make quick money by selling the tickets at a higher price. The incident has once again brought into the limelight the issue of ticket black marketing, especially during high-demand events like Coldplay’s concerts.
