Chinese Mother Posts Video of Son Urinating on Family Meal, Internet Is Not Happy

A recent incident in China has sparked significant outrage on social media after a mother from Beijing posted a video of her young son urinating on a dining table full of food. Despite the unpleasant event, the family continued to consume the food, which included steamed buns, eggs, and vegetables. The mother proudly shared the moment on social media, which quickly gained attention.

When questioned by a social media user, “So, did you guys end up eating that food?”, the mother responded, “Yes, we did eat it,” furthering the shock and disbelief of many viewers.

Cultural Context Behind the Practice

While many were disturbed by the incident, it is important to note that this act has cultural roots in some parts of China. According to the South China Morning Post, there is a traditional belief that a young boy’s urine possesses “mysterious powers.” It is thought to have healing properties, including boosting yang energy, reducing fever, and even warding off evil spirits. Particularly potent is the first morning urine of a boy under the age of 10.

This belief is tied to certain practices, including the preparation of a dish called “urine eggs,” where eggs are soaked in urine collected from young boys. While these practices have deep historical roots, many social media users were quick to criticize the mother’s actions, calling for more stringent regulations to prevent such content from being shared online.
