In a bizarre incident suspected to be linked to occult practices, a 35-year-old man from Chhattisgarh died after allegedly swallowing a live chick, leaving medical professionals astonished.
The deceased, Anand Yadav from Chhindkalo village in Ambikapur, was found collapsed at home soon after taking a bath. Family members claimed that he had been dizziness before losing consciousness and therefore rushed him to the nearest hospital.
The cause of death is yet to be known on post-mortem, say doctors, although they have said that during the autopsy by making a cut near the throat, they found 20-cm live chick inside the airway of this person.

This had likely resulted in asphyxiation as the chick had blocked both the food and airway passage, opined Dr. Santu Bag after conducting the autopsy. As the post-mortem count surmounted to more than 15,000, this has been the first case, Dr. Bag said.
Villagers have speculated over the strange nature of Yadav’s death, and there are murmurs about occult rituals. Locals say Yadav was infertile and that he was consulting a *tantrik*. He might have swallowed the chick as part of the ritual for his infertility problem. The authorities have begun an investigation to know the exact cause and circumstances of the incident.
