Chhath Puja: Rituals and Significance

Chhath Puja, a four-day festival primarily celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Nepal, honors the Sun God, Surya. Devotees observe various rituals to thank the Sun for sustaining life on Earth. The festival begins with Nahay-Khay on the Chaturthi Tithi, followed by Kharna on Panchami Tithi, where devotees break their fast. The main event occurs on Sashti, culminating with the Usha Arghya on Saptami Tithi, where prayers and offerings are made to the rising Sun.

While Chhath Puja has deep cultural roots in India, it is also widely observed by the Indian diaspora across the world. The festival serves as a time for devotion, fasting, and community bonding, strengthening cultural ties and maintaining a centuries-old tradition that continues to thrive globally.
