Can Cinema Rise Above Borders? Pakistani Viewer Reacts Honestly to Dhurandhar

A Pakistani viewer acknowledges the political discomfort in Dhurandhar but praises its powerful storytelling, performances and message of humanity beyond borders

Dhurandhar has already become an international famous movie as it is doing quite well in the box office since its release. The spy thriller film has already made headlines around the globe for its massive performances, bigger than the life spectacle, and bold storytelling. Meanwhile, the film triggered numerous opinions for its depiction of cross-border disputes and events, which took inspirations from real-life occurrences.

Though so much is being discussed and talked about, one answer from a Pakistani viewer has caught the attention of all of us on social networks. Though he criticized the movie to be awkward, his answer to the movie has been full of honesty, where he appreciated the performance as well as the story.

Pakistani Audience Review on ‘Dhurandhar’

A man shared a video from his Instagram account. He told his own experience and connection with the setting which was described in the Dhurandhar movie.

‘I think sabko pata hai. I was brought up in Pakistan in Karachi. Us movie mein bahut naam aur characters aise hain jo link home, usi age group mein hain jo sunte aare hain un naamo ko (I think you guys know where I brought up? I brought up in Pakistan, in Karachi. There are many names and characters in the film that are closely related to us, names we’ve been hearing since we were kids.”)

He further stated that personally, he is also a big fan of Bollywood films regardless of whatever is involved in filmmaking.

‘I am a huge fan of Bollywood cinema, and I am a huge fan of cinema, and I must say that I enjoyed watching it. Acchi movie banai hai…it’s an art. All I can say is it’s brilliant work.’

Pakistani Viewer on Political Angle in Dhurandhar

The Pakistani viewer did not shy away from commenting on the political message evident in Dhurandhar. He said, “Now, again the Pakistani is projected as the enemy,” but added, “This is the ongoing conflict between both countries; this doesn’t take me back from the movie.”

Rather, he chose to emphasize the emotional and cinematic aspects of the movie, claiming that the story has left an impression on him notwithstanding the uncomfortable theme.

Dhurandhar Emotional Impact is Notable

Although describing how the story has affected him, he revealed that as a personal experience, the movie seemed rather weighty because of the events from which the story is taken. Nevertheless, he commended the creativeness of the producers.

According to him: “The thing that impressed me the most about this film is the nice integration of music into the story and the powerful visuals and screenplay. I also think the actors did a very good job and added to the intensity and enjoyment of the whole experience.” He added that some scenes left him troubled and moved while watching movie.

Dhurandhar Story & Cast

Dhurandhar features Ranveer Singh as Hamza, an intelligence agent of India who enters Lyari, Pakistan, and knocks down terror networks that seem to have support from the ISI. It also stars Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi, and Arjun Rampal in prominent roles.

Due to its impressive box office performances, Dhurandhar proved to be a massive hit. In only 10 days after its release, Dhurandhar had already collected Rs 350 crore net sales from India.
