In a disturbing incident, a man in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, attempted suicide on Friday by drinking mosquito repellent after reportedly struggling with depression following a breakup, as reported by Navbharat Times. The man, who shared a video of the act on Instagram, can be seen taking several sips, showing visible discomfort as he continues to drink the toxic substance. Fortunately, police were alerted and intervened in time, saving his life.

Police Response and Rescue Operation

The Trans Yamuna Police Station received a tip-off from the Police Commissioner’s media cell after the man’s Instagram video circulated, revealing his attempt to consume poison. Constables Durgashankar and Manoj Kumar quickly responded, arriving at the man’s rented room in Sati Nagar Naraich at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Saturday. Upon receiving no response at the door, the officers broke in, finding the young man in distress. They promptly transported him to a nearby hospital, where he is now recovering. Police reported that he had been battling depression, primarily due to a recent breakup, while preparing for competitive exams in Agra.

Similar Incident in Lucknow

In another case, police in Lucknow recently rescued a 26-year-old woman who had ingested a poisonous substance near Vikramaditya Marg. The woman, hailing from Kalyanpur in Kanpur Nagar, had previously accused a PAC constable of sexual assault. She was quickly taken to Civil Hospital, where she is receiving emergency treatment, according to police. The case has brought renewed focus on mental health support and prompt action by authorities to prevent similar incidents.
