“Confused, I picked it up and entered. Some skinny jerk (in pullingo attire) was behind me, and the conductor kept yelling at him, threatening to call the police. The thief ran away while the conductor shouted, ‘Saar, avnu nim phone na kalltidda’ (Look, he was taking your phone. ) The funniest part was that two bikers overtaking this bus blocked this guy’s escape,” the user added.
The post also included safety advice for safeguarding personal belongings while using public transport. The passenger urged others to identify the courageous conductor—a “bespectacled person with buzz-cut hair and beard”—if they happen to see him.
Social Media Reactions
One commenter offered a suggestion: “Don’t listen to music. One of your senses will be diminished. Also, see everyone as a potential thief in a crowded bus. Watch the hands of those around you. This tactic has worked for me thus far. Hopefully in the future as well. ”
Another user recounted a personal story: “I learned my lesson when a woman snatched my phone from the front pocket of my backpack while getting off. I still recall how she used her dupatta to conceal her hands. It’s always wiser to keep it in the bag (ideally in the second compartment) or to hold it in your hand. ”
A third person commended the conductor’s fearless attitude, saying, “Love the conductor’s unhinged style. ” Meanwhile, another commenter recounted their encounter with the conductor: “OP, I met the hero. Interestingly, he didn’t remember the incident at all. I explained the entire situation (excluding the cursing part haha) and he still didn’t recall. Eventually, he even asked, ‘avrge phone sigta? ’ And I said yes, that’s why I’m here, to thank you on behalf of that individual. Amazing guy to converse with though. ”
To avoid such events, experts advise against showcasing valuable items during commutes, steering clear of placing them in back pockets, and utilizing pickpocket-resistant bags or clothing with hidden compartments for enhanced safety.
