A program to celebrate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary turned into a scene of chaos and outrage in Satna on Friday afternoon when BJP MP Ganesh Singh slapped a municipal crane operator in public.
The incident happened at Semriya Chowk, near the BR Ambedkar statue, during the ‘Run for Unity’ event organized to mark the day.
What Actually Happened with BJP MP Ganesh Singh
The MP was garlanding the statue of Ambedkar using a hydraulic crane, according to eyewitnesses. As he began to descend from the machine, it suddenly jerked and stopped mid-air, keeping him swinging for many seconds.

When the crane finally lowered him to the ground, the visibly agitated legislator summoned Ganesh Kushwaha, the operator and a municipal employee, and slapped him in full view of BJP workers, administrative officials, and passersby.
The incident was caught on camera and sparked sharp criticism on social media. The video shows the MP stepping out of the hydraulic box, shouting at the operator, and then hitting him across the face while police and officials watch in stunned silence.

Reason Behind Sudden Jerk in Machine
Eyewitnesses said the machine jerked on account of a minor technical fault. “The operator was only doing his job. The sudden jerk was mechanical. But the MP lost his temper,” said a municipal worker who was present during the incident.
Soon after, in a social media post, the representative of the MP, Neeta Soni, justified the assault, writing, “The MP merely slapped him. His arms and legs should have been broken. If he had fallen from that height, who would have taken responsibility?”
The post has escalated political tempers even further
The Congress condemned the act as a “display of arrogance and power intoxication.” State party spokesperson Abhinav Baraulia said, “This is the real face of the BJP, where leaders believe they own the public servants and the public alike.”
The incident has ignited public anger, as it happened during a government-backed event meant to promote unity and respect.
Disciplinary action against the MP and whether the municipal employee filed a complaint remain open to confirmation from the local administration.
