In a disturbing incident that has stirred public outrage, a traffic police officer in Bhopal was captured on camera assaulting a man for allegedly standing too close to the Governor’s convoy. The footage, which has since gone viral across social media platforms, shows the officer approaching the man, shoving him to the ground, and violently kicking and slapping him in full public view.
The altercation occurred at the Anand Nagar intersection, where Governor Mangubhai Patel’s convoy was passing through. The man, who was near the convoy, became the target of the officer’s aggression despite no apparent provocation.
The shocking video has rapidly spread online, causing an outpouring of anger from the public. In the clip, the officer’s swift and harsh actions toward the man have raised concerns about excessive use of force and accountability.
As the video gained attention, authorities acted quickly to respond to the incident. Additional DCP Vikram Raghuvanshi provided an explanation regarding the security protocols in place for the Governor’s convoy.
According to Raghuvanshi, the convoy was under Z+ security, which comes with heightened protection due to the risk of accidents or potential threats. He stated, “No one is allowed near the Governor’s convoy, and the area must remain clear due to the high-speed movement of the motorcade. The individual had been warned by the police but chose to approach the convoy despite the warnings.”
In the wake of the incident, the police have launched a thorough investigation to examine the circumstances surrounding the assault. DCP Raghuvanshi confirmed that an ACP-level officer is leading the inquiry, and video footage of the assault has been retrieved as part of the investigation process. Statements are being recorded to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the events.
“The facts will eventually come to light,” stated Raghuvanshi. “Although investigations take time, the truth will emerge once all aspects are thoroughly examined.”
While the incident continues to spark conversations on social media and within the local community, the police have emphasised the importance of ensuring safety around high-security convoys. Authorities are committed to a transparent investigation to ensure accountability for the actions of the traffic police officer involved.
