Bengaluru witnessed an unusual spectacle on Saturday, March 22, as thick, snow-like foam covered parts of the city following heavy rainfall. While the showers provided much-needed relief from the heat, it was the mysterious foamy streets that truly grabbed netizens’ attention.

Foam-Covered Streets Go Viral

Videos circulating on social media, especially near the NIMHANS Dairy Circle, showcased streets blanketed in dense white foam. Netizens React With Theories and Jokes

The bizarre occurrence led to a flurry of online speculation regarding its cause. Some users attributed it to nature, claiming that soapnut trees (Shikakai) were responsible. One user explained, “The foam is caused by soapnuts falling from trees. When rainwater interacts with them, vehicular movement creates this soapy effect. These soapnuts are commonly used in shampoos and herbal powders.”

Others, however, took a humorous spin on the situation. One user quipped, “Someone must have spilled Surf Excel while driving back home.” Another joked, “This must be Bengaluru’s version of Manali Snowfall Yojna – artificial snow for city dwellers!”

Potential Risks and Caution Advised

While the foamy spectacle amused many, some users pointed out potential safety concerns. A resident cautioned, “This foam can be slippery, especially for two-wheelers. It may look fun, but it can be dangerous.”

As Bengaluru continues to experience unpredictable weather, this rare and amusing incident has left locals entertained and intrigued. Authorities have yet to comment on the exact cause, but for now, it remains a fascinating mystery of nature and urban life.
