Pooja Bhatt Criticizes Public Display of ‘Hindutva Pop’ in Mumbai Metro

Actress and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt recently voiced her concerns over a group of individuals singing ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and Garba songs in the Mumbai metro, an act she described as “Hindutva pop.” Bhatt expressed her disapproval of the misuse of public spaces and emphasized that such behavior undermines law and order.

Concern Over Public Conduct

In her social media post, Bhatt reacted to a tweet that referred to the performance as “Hindutva Pop” or “H-pop.” She questioned how such activities were permitted in public areas, asserting that it was irrelevant whether the songs were Hindutva pop, Christmas carols, Bollywood hits, or any other genre. “Public spaces should not be misused like this,” she insisted, calling for accountability from the authorities who allowed it to happen.

Call for Civic Responsibility

In a follow-up tweet, Bhatt warned that maintaining law and order would be impossible if basic civic rules are ignored. She pointed out the current state of the city, mentioning that illegal hoardings from various political parties were defacing Mumbai, the metro had become a party zone, and firecrackers were being lit on the streets—often providing cover for criminal activity.

Context of Recent Violence

Bhatt’s remarks came shortly after the tragic shooting of Maharashtra Minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique during a Dussehra procession in Bandra. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the attack, highlighting the urgent need for public safety and order.
