‘Alphabet Killer’ Credits Himself for Killing 26 Women, Not 4

Joseph Naso, also known as the ‘Alphabet Killer’, has allegedly claimed responsibility for killing 26 women. He was convicted for the murder of four women in 2013, but recently he has ‘credited himself’ for a far greater number of bodies. His inmate, Bill Noguera, claimed that Naso even kept a ‘greatest hits’ list of his victims.

Naso picked his victims whose first and last names started with the same alphabet; therefore given the nickname of the ‘Alphabet Killer’.

91-year-old Naso is currently serving a life sentence in California. He was convicted of the murder of four women in 2013. The four women killed were:

  • Roxene Roggasch (18) in Fairfax, 1977
  • Carmen Colon (22) in Port Costa, 1978
  • Pamela Parsons (38) in Yuba County, 1993
  • Tracy Tafoya (31) in Yuba County, 1994

He was jailed for the murder of his girlfriend in 1998.

Rivalry Behind the Bars

Noguera stated that Naso once became furious when one of his murders was mistakenly linked to another inmate, Rodney Alcala, also known as ‘The Dating Game Killer’. “That really bothered him. So he often talked about how ‘they got him for one of mine,’” Noguera told Vanity Fair.

The ‘Greatest Hits’ List

Naso claimed 10 of his victims to be in his ‘greatest hits’ list. Among them was Pamela Lambson. He lured her by posing as the official photographer for the Oakland A’s. He raped and killed her in 1977 and posed her lifeless body against a tree.

Naguro quoted Naso, “She just drove me crazy about being an entertainer, and these photographs were because she was going to be a star, and she was dating one of the players from the A’s. So I posed her, now she’s getting all the entertainment and all the exposure she needs.”

Naguro also stated that Naso photographed six victims staged as if they were already dead before actually killing them. He admitted to listening to The Doors’ Riders on the Storm while hunting women, obsessing over the lyric, ‘There’s a killer on the road/His brain is squirming like a toad’.
