Renting houses could be a very good source of income but the landlords have always been worried about how the tenants would treat the space. A recent such incident happened when an American man, Vince Villegas, rented his house through Airbnb and was shocked when the tenants left.
Vince, who is managing the house in Saugatuck, Michigan, for a friend, had shared his experience in a TikTok video. After the tenants had checked out, he went to inspect the property. When he opened the door, he was left stunned by what he saw. The house was marked with some weird red stains on walls, glass, and switchboards—some religious ritual, perhaps. The tenant had shifted all the furniture outside the house, and this was what left Vince with a repair bill of around Rs. 2.5 lakh.
To add insult to injury, the tenant, who had overstayed by some five hours beyond the checkout time, presented Vince with a bill of Rs. 85,000 for “services.” When Vince sought an explanation of the amount, the tenant said he was an interior designer, and the changes he was making to the house added to its beauty. Hence, he felt that Vince should compensate him for his “work.
This video, which has gone viral, left most viewers shocked, as others warned against renting properties to strangers.
