In Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyala district, authorities have indicated that an eight-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and then killed by three senior students, aged 12 and 13, from her school.
Three juvenile suspects are currently in custody, having stated that they discarded a girl’s body in an irrigation canal. This incident took place in Muchumarri, located over 300 kilometers from Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh. The girl’s father had reported her missing to the local police on Sunday after she failed to return home from Muchumarri Park. Despite efforts to search the area and speak with residents, the police could not locate her.
The investigation led police to the three boys, two aged 12 and one aged 13, all of whom attended the same school as the girl. During interrogation, the boys confessed to sexually assaulting and killing her. They described how they lured her from the park to a remote area near the Muchumarri dam, where they took turns assaulting her. Fearing the consequences, they claimed they killed her and disposed of her body in a nearby canal to keep her from reporting the incident to her parents.
Sub-Inspector Jayshekhar from the Muchumarri police station mentioned that the case is still classified as a missing person investigation since the girl’s body has not yet been located.
