Police are maintaining a stringent presence in Pusesawali village, located in Maharashtra’s Satara district, following a tragic episode of communal violence that claimed one life. Internet services, which were temporarily suspended in the aftermath of the clashes, are expected to be reinstated by Wednesday evening, as per officials.
The turmoil erupted on Sunday night when two groups clashed over an “objectionable” social media post, resulting in rioters setting ablaze several residences and vehicles. Tragically, one person lost their life, while ten others sustained injuries.
The district administration has reported that the situation in the village remains under control, with a continued police presence to ensure security.
District collector Jitendra Dudi has indicated that the Internet suspension is likely to be lifted by Wednesday evening, relieving residents of the communication constraints imposed in the wake of the violence.
