Amid ongoing protests over the rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata, a 20-year-old nursing student was allegedly raped in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district. The survivor was found injured and is currently receiving medical treatment.

The incident has sparked widespread protests by the nursing community in Ratnagiri, with civilians and hospital staff blocking traffic in several areas, according to India Today. Authorities have assured that they are taking action against the perpetrator and have urged the protestors to remain calm.

According to News18, the nursing student was returning home from college in an auto-rickshaw when the driver offered her water laced with sedatives. After losing consciousness, the driver allegedly took her to a secluded location and raped her. When she regained consciousness, she called her family for help.

Police are currently searching for the auto-rickshaw driver, and the survivor has been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, in Kolkata, new details have emerged regarding the rape and murder of the doctor. The main suspect, Sanjay Roy, who was known to frequent the hospital, allegedly raped and murdered the doctor in the seminar hall where she had gone to rest.

Roy reportedly confessed to the crime during a lie-detector test. According to reports, Roy had consumed alcohol with a friend hours before entering the hospital at 4:03 am and allegedly molested another woman on the street. He and his friend were also said to have visited two red-light districts in Kolkata.

Further investigation revealed that Roy spoke to his girlfriend, demanding explicit photos. A psychoanalysis conducted by the CBI indicated that Roy was addicted to pornography and displayed perverse behavior. An officer described him as having “animal instincts.”
