Steve Jobs’ 1973 resume highlights his early focus on electronics and technology. At that time, Jobs listed his skills as “electronics” and “tech,” foreshadowing his future impact on the tech world with Apple.
In contrast, Bill Gates’ 1971 resume showcases his programming skills and experience with various computers. Gates’ resume mentions proficiency in programming languages such as FORTRAN, COBOL, and BASIC, as well as experience with computers like the PDP-10, PDP-8, and CDC-6400. Notably, Gates listed his salary as $35,000, a significant sum for a young person in the 1970s. The resume also notes his collaboration with Paul G. Allen, who would later co-found Microsoft with him.

Steve Jobs went on to co-found Apple Inc and Pixar Animation Studios. He played a pivotal role in introducing the Apple II, one of the first successful personal computers. After being ousted from Apple in 1985, he returned in 1997 and led the company to new heights with innovations like the iMac, iPod, iPhone, and iPad. Under his leadership, Apple became a leading global tech company. Jobs passed away on October 5, 2011.
Bill Gates, on the other hand, co-founded Microsoft Corporation with Paul Allen in 1975. Gates displayed a strong interest in computer programming from a young age, starting at just 13. He and Allen developed MS-DOS, which became highly successful, and later released Windows in 1985, a graphical user interface that transformed personal computing.
In addition to his technological achievements, Gates is renowned for his philanthropic work through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, established in 2000. The foundation focuses on global health, education, and poverty alleviation. Although Gates is no longer involved in Microsoft’s daily operations, he continues to serve as a technology advisor.
