Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and assured that assembly elections would be conducted soon. Speaking at a public rally in Udhampur, PM Modi expressed optimism about the region’s future and emphasized that the ongoing efforts are just a glimpse of what lies ahead.

Highlighting the progress achieved, PM Modi noted that elections are now being held in Jammu and Kashmir without the threat of terrorism and cross-border firing. He underscored the positive developments in the region, encapsulating it with the phrase, “Vikas bhi ho raha hai, vishvaas bhi badh raha hai” (progress is happening, confidence is growing).

Recalling the reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir into a union territory in October 2019, PM Modi emphasized the transformative changes underway. These include the establishment of prestigious institutions like AIIMS, IITs, and IIMs, along with infrastructure enhancements such as roads, railways, and tunnels.

PM Modi highlighted the rise in tourism and pilgrimage to Jammu and Kashmir, signaling a shift towards peace and prosperity. He stressed the substantial progress made in terms of development and security over the past decade.

Assuring the people of Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi reaffirmed his dedication to addressing the region’s longstanding issues. He emphasized the government’s commitment to providing essential services and assistance, including free ration for millions of families over the next five years.

Ahead of the upcoming general election, PM Modi stressed the importance of forming a robust government to effectively tackle challenges. He urged voters to support BJP candidates, including Union Minister Jitendra Singh from Udhampur, citing their strong track record of representation.

In the electoral landscape, the Congress has nominated Choudhary Lal Singh from Udhampur, while the Peoples Democratic Party has lent support to Lal Singh.

Udhampur is slated to vote in the first phase on April 19, with the BJP aiming to replicate its success in the region as seen in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
