Telugu Desam Party spokesman Kommareddy Pattabhi demanded Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and his mother YS Vijayamma to explain why they had withdrawn the plea filed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court for ordering a probe by the CBI into the Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case.
Pattabhi said that there were many doubts and suspicions on how the Chief Minister played a dubious role in changing the Special Investigation Teams (SITs) for over three times. There were also many unanswered questions on how the accused persons and witnesses were either getting killed or committing suicides.
Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader asked whether Vijayamma did not know how the head of the second SIT Abhishek Mohanty was sent on long leave a few days after the suicide of main accused K Srinivas Reddy under suspicious circumstances. Was the SIT head asked to stay away from the investigation since he had got too close to cracking Reddy’s murder case? Vijayammma is turning a blind eye to all such complicated issues and merely acting like a ‘neti Gandhari’ (modern-day Gandhari) who would not bother how much her son’s misdeeds would destroy others.
Pattabhi mocked the claim made by the Chief Minister’s mother that all their family members were sympathetic towards and extending their support to Reddy’s daughter Sunitha Reddy. In that case, Vijayamma should explain to the people why the Jagan Mohan Reddy blue media was not giving any support to Sunitha Reddy. It was a fact that the Sakshi newspaper and TV did not cover a single bit of her sensational press conference held in Delhi. It was a false claim on the part of the Vijayammma to say their family members were supportive of Reddy’s daughter.
The TDP leader further asked why Jagan Mohan Reddy and his mother did not bother to arrange for topmost Supreme Court lawyers like Mukul Rohatgi to argue for Sunitha Reddy in the court. For every small and needless case like the colours and medium of instruction, the Chief Minister was paying huge amounts to the tune of Rs 5 crore to get the country’s top lawyers to argue on behalf of the Government. But he never showed the same enthusiasm to get this mysterious murder resolved.
