Vietnamese PM Pham Minh Chinh To Embark On Three-Day State Visit To India

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will begin his three-day state visit to India on July 30, at the invitation of PM Narendra Modi. He will be joined by a high-level delegation featuring various ministers, deputy ministers, and business leaders. The visit will wrap up on August 1, according to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs.

During his visit, Chinh will be honoured with a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, followed by a visit to Raj Ghat to pay respects to Mahatma Gandhi. He will also engage in bilateral talks with PM Modi, who will host a luncheon in his honour. Additionally, Prime Minister Chinh is scheduled to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. The Ministry of External Affairs also indicated that External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is expected to meet with the Vietnamese Prime Minister.

Last week, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid their respects to the late General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, at separate solemn ceremonies marking his state funeral. Ajit Doval represented India at the state funeral in Hanoi last Thursday, while Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Vietnamese Embassy in India to convey condolences on behalf of the Indian government and people.

India and Vietnam share deep historical and civilizational connections, which were formalised into a comprehensive strategic partnership during PM Modi’s visit to Vietnam in September 2016. Additionally, India views Vietnam as a crucial element of its Act East Policy and a significant partner in its Indo-Pacific strategy.
