Honor launched the Watch ES in September. The compact, sleek and square-shaped watch comes with a 1.64-inch AMOLED touch display with automatic bright adjustment that offers vivid visuals, personalised watch faces and an always-on display feature.
DISPLAY AND DESIGN
The Honor Watch ES comes with a 1.64-inch square dial and a colour AMOLED curved edge display with a resolution of 456×280 pixels. The panel is multi-touch with a pixel density of 326 PPI. The display supports slide and touch gestures, and is bright and sharp.
The watch is made of polymer fibre along with a plastic side frame and a glossy panel. The watch has a height of 46mm and a width of 30mm. The straps are removable and are made of rubber, which make them comfortable to wear and easy to strap on or off. The only disadvantage of it is in terms of its look as the rubber strap does not allow a ‘premium’ feel at all.
WORKOUT MODES
The most important reason why someone gets a smartwatch is for monitoring their workout and health regimen. The Honor Watch ES has ten professional workout modes which include swimming, running, cycling and walking to track your fitness and provide personalized guidance. It also has 95 workout modes, an animated virtual coach with 44 animated exercise modes and 12 animated workout classes.
The watch helps in monitoring your workout and offers you options to readjust. It comes pre-installed with the TruSeen 4.0 heart rate monitor that provides continuous supervision and timely alerts about any abnormal results. Additionally, the SpO2 monitor keeps track of oxygen saturation levels. The watch also monitors sleep and can identify stress sleeping.
PERFORMANCE
The Honor Watch ES runs on the Huawei wearable platform OS. It supports compatible OS Android 5.0+ and IOS9.0+. The watch has an inbuilt storage of 4 GB. The response rate on the watch is quick and the touch functions work seamlessly.
BATTERY AND CONNECTIVITY
The Watch ES is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion battery and gives ten days of power backup with a single charge. The watch also supports quick charge technology, which allows for almost seven days of battery backup with a 30-minute charge, as claimed by Huawei.
Honor Watch ES is compatible with Android 5+ and iOS9.0+ smartphones. It pairs over Bluetooth 4.2-supported devices. Besides this, the watch has WiFi and a GPS-enabled system for online navigational support.
VERDICT
This is a light, sleek, simple and sporty watch. It has great battery life and comes with exciting workout options. The watch does not really miss out on any element in the health department. Its design is the only point where consumers may be dissatisfied, as it looks different than other smartwatches. For a few, this might be a selling point, but for others, it can be a bit too unusual. Personally, the strap is the only disappointment. All in all, this is a great smartwatch, especially given its price and the number of features it offers.
The Honor Watch ES is priced at Rs 8,000, and is available in the colours, Meteorite Black, Coral Pink, and Icelandic White.
