The Uttarakhand IAS Association has condemned the alleged assault on IAS officer R Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary for the state’s Energy Department, and his office staff. The incident reportedly involved Unemployed Association President Bobby Panwar and two associates, who allegedly forced their way into Sundaram’s office at Vishwakarma Bhawan on November 6, using abusive language and issuing threats, according to a statement released by the association on Thursday.
The association called for strict measures against those involved, emphasizing the need to prevent such incidents in the future. “We stand in solidarity with Sundaram and his office staff and urge the government and law enforcement to ensure the safety and dignity of public servants so they may fulfill their duties without intimidation,” the statement read.
Following the incident, Dehradun’s Kotwali Police Station registered an FIR under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Uttarakhand ADGP (Law and Order) AP Anshuman confirmed that the Dehradun SSP has been instructed to pursue legal action, while DGP Abhinav Kumar announced that strict measures would be taken against Panwar and his associates for allegedly issuing death threats, abusing, and physically assaulting Sundaram and his staff.
According to a complaint by Sundaram’s private secretary, Kapil Kumar, Panwar and his two companions not only threatened the secretary but also intimidated and assaulted the office staff, disrupting operations within the secretariat.
