On the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took part in a program at Police Line Dehradun on Wednesday night with his wife Geeta Dhami. The Chief Minister and his wife attended the grand presentation of numerous Lord Shri Krishna-themed events.
Hindus commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna, the deity who is the epitome of playfulness and innocence, on Janmashtami each year. According to the Hindu calendar, Lord Krishna was born on the eighth day of the month of Bhadra. He is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. According to the Western calendar, the day typically falls in the months of August or September. Prayers are offered to Lord Krishna during the celebration of Janmashtami, which also features beautifully decorated swings, dance and music performances, and the “Dahi-Handi” competition.
