National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett emphasized that any transfer of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia would represent a severe escalation in support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This move could result in increased civilian casualties and further destabilize European security. The US has been warning Iran against such transfers, citing the broader threat to global stability.
The US intelligence report comes amid ongoing conflict in Ukraine, where President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is advocating for increased Western missile support to target deep inside Russia. This request follows significant territorial gains by Ukraine in the Kursk region, putting additional pressure on Russian defenses.

CIA Director William Burns, speaking in London, highlighted the troubling defense cooperation between Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea, which poses a threat to Ukraine and Western allies. The US has previously declassified information showing North Korea’s provision of ammunition and missiles to Russia and Iran’s supply of drones and assistance in building a drone-manufacturing facility for Russia.
