The United States has chosen not to address reports of Israeli strikes in Iran overnight, with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declining to answer questions about the attacks.

During a press briefing on Friday, Jean-Pierre acknowledged the interest in the Middle East events but emphasized that there were no comments to provide at the moment. She mentioned ongoing consultations with allies and partners in the region to mitigate the risk of further escalation.

Regarding inquiries about the situation, Jean-Pierre reiterated the administration’s stance against escalation and referred to the joint statement by G7 foreign ministers. Earlier reports indicated Israeli airstrikes in Iran, with subsequent responses from Iranian air defense systems.

Additionally, Syrian military locations were reportedly targeted. These incidents follow Iran’s previous missile and drone attacks on Israel, prompting warnings from Iran’s Foreign Minister at the UN Security Council. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, despite advice from allies, affirmed Israel’s commitment to protecting itself during a cabinet meeting.
