US Presidential Election 2024: Kamala Harris' Campaign Boosted by $310 Million in July; Double That of Trump's

With less than 100 days left for the 2024 US Presidential election, Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign has seen a significant boost. Her campaign announced raising $310 million in donations for July, more than double the $138.7 million raised by Republican nominee Donald Trump during the same period. This financial surge is largely attributed to the enthusiastic support following her emergence as the Democratic presidential nominee.

A majority of Harris’ July donations came in the first week of her candidacy, with two-thirds from first-time donors and 94% of donations being $200 or less. Her campaign now enters August with $377 million in cash on hand, surpassing Trump’s $327 million. This fundraising momentum reflects a strong grassroots support base for Harris.

Harris’ campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, emphasized the motivation and readiness of Harris’ coalition to secure a victory in the November 5 election. The campaign’s strategy focuses on utilizing these funds effectively to win close elections.

The shift in the Democratic ticket came after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek reelection, endorsing Harris, who quickly secured enough delegate endorsements to win the nomination. This energized both voters and donors, transforming what was anticipated to be a challenging month for Democrats into a period of robust financial and grassroots support.

Trump’s fundraising benefited from an assassination attempt at a rally and the announcement of Ohio Sen. JD Vance as his running mate. Harris is expected to announce her running mate soon, with additional momentum anticipated from the Democratic convention in Chicago starting on August 19.
