This week, Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate running against former President Donald Trump, faced criticism from Eric Trump for appearing on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast while the southeastern U.S. was dealing with Category 3 Hurricane Milton.

Hurricane Milton tore through Florida, devastating the Tampa Bay area, causing widespread infrastructure damage, and claiming the lives of at least 16 residents. The storm hit just days after the region was battered by Hurricane Helene, which had already led to emergency declarations across several southern states.

As the hurricane hit, Harris appeared on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, known for its candid discussions about sexual experiences and women’s empowerment. During the episode, Harris used much of her time to criticize the former president, accusing him of portraying himself as a “protector” in an effort to gain support from female voters.

“This is the same guy who said that women should be punished for having abortions?” Harris asked. “This is the kind of guy who used the kind of language he does to describe women? So yeah, there you go.”

During the episode, host Alex Cooper revealed that she had also invited Donald Trump to appear on the show, but he declined. Responding to Harris’s participation, Eric Trump criticized the vice president, claiming in an interview with The National News Desk (TNND) that she was neglecting her responsibilities by doing a podcast while several states were grappling with the impact of the hurricane.

“These aren’t serious people,” he said. “People feel all of this, and they feel this is the most inept administration in the history of this country, and it is.”

Eric Trump’s brother, Donald Trump Jr., added to the criticisms on Monday, bringing up past accusations that Kamala Harris had plagiarized portions of her 2009 book, ‘Smart on Crime: A Career Prosecutor’s Plan to Make Us Safer’, without proper attribution.

“Yikes!” Donald Trump Jr. posted on X (formerly Twitter). “More evidence that Kamala Harris is a fraud!!!”

Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance, author of ‘Hillbilly Elegy’, also weighed in with similar remarks aimed at Harris.

“I wrote my own book, unlike Kamala Harris, who copied hers from Wikipedia,” Vance wrote. “Cue the corporate media fact-checkers.”
