India’s United States Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti visited the world-famous Jaipur Foot at the Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) in Jaipur on Tuesday. During this time he inspected the manufacturing process of the world-famous artificial limb. D R Mehta, Founder and Chief Patron of BMVSS, apprised the guest ambassador about the manufacturing process.
He informed that due to its high performance and quality, the artificial limb has so far benefited 2.2 million people in India and abroad. Mehta said Jaipur Foot has a presence in 42 countries and is provided free of cost to persons with disabilities. However, Garcetti said that he was happy to know that Jaipur Foot is a high-quality and low-cost prosthesis, which helps thousands of people walk with dignity every year.
The Ambassador was also pleased to learn that through its various centres in the country, BMVSS provides Jaipur Foot and other aids and appliances to more than 35,000 people every year.
During this, the Ambassador was welcomed by Executive Chairman SS Bhandari, Technical Secretary Dr. Deependra Mehta, Chief Technical Advisor DRMK Mehta and Advisor Dr. Pooja Mukul.
