Following a tip-off from U.S. authorities, the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police has commenced extradition proceedings to bring Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, back to India. Anmol is linked to a shooting incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai and is implicated in several high-profile cases allegedly orchestrated under his elder brother’s direction.

Legal Actions Underway

Last month, the Mumbai Police sought permission from a special court to initiate the extradition process, informing the court of their intent to bring Anmol back to India to face charges, particularly in relation to the Salman Khan case. A non-bailable warrant for his arrest has already been issued by a special court handling cases under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Police sources indicate they are waiting for specific court documents to finalize the formalities, after which a formal proposal will be submitted to the central government for further action.

Ongoing Investigations

Anmol Bishnoi, 25, is under investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which has recently placed a ₹10 lakh bounty on him for his alleged involvement in various criminal activities. It is reported that he is currently residing in Canada and frequently travels to the United States. Furthermore, Anmol is suspected of being involved in the October 12 murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique in Mumbai’s Bandra area.

Connections to Recent Violence

A Mumbai court recently denied bail to one of the accused in the Salman Khan firing incident, emphasizing that the act was committed with the intent to kill, allegedly at Anmol’s instigation. Both Anmol and Lawrence Bishnoi hail from Fazilka, Punjab, and are wanted in multiple criminal cases. A red corner notice has also been issued for Anmol’s search abroad, as authorities continue to pursue justice in these high-profile cases.
